Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated a new passport office at Karachi’s NADRA Mega Centre in Nazimabad on Wednesday.
The facility will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with three shifts, allowing citizens to apply for passports at their convenience.
This initiative follows an announcement by Immigration and Passports Director General Mustafa Jamal Qazi last month regarding the establishment of passport offices at NADRA Mega Centres in North Nazimabad and Siemens Chowrangi to help reduce congestion at the central passport office.
During the inauguration ceremony, the interior minister inspected the passport counters, interacted with staff, and engaged with citizens visiting the Mega Centre for passport and National Identity Card (NIC) services. He inquired about their experiences and feedback.
He was also briefed on the operations of the passport office at the NADRA centre and discussed challenges faced by women undergoing biometric verification for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
Naqvi directed the relevant authorities to resolve these issues immediately, emphasizing that the government is committed to addressing public concerns efficiently.
