A sea vessel carrying dozens of passengers, including Pakistani nationals, capsized off the coast of Libya, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Monday. The incident took place near the port of Marsa Dela, northwest of Zawiya City.
Authorities have yet to confirm the legal status of those aboard the vessel. The Foreign Office stated that Pakistani officials are actively working to gather more details regarding the tragedy.
According to the statement, the sea vessel was carrying approximately 65 passengers when it sank. In response, the Pakistan Embassy in Tripoli dispatched a team to Zawiya Hospital to assist local authorities in identifying the deceased and those affected.
Efforts are underway to determine the number of Pakistani nationals involved in the incident. The embassy is coordinating with Libyan authorities to provide support and obtain further details about the Pakistani victims.
