Businessmen’s Alliance Vows to Challenge Monopoly in Karachi Chamber : Haroon Farooqui,

Haroon Farooqui, a key leader of the Businessmen’s Alliance and Former President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry emphasized that no one is considered inferior, customs agents have become a driving force amd.business Community has to  acknowledge their services for the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. and stated that they will not allow anyone to dominate the KCCI.
Speaking at the annual dinner hosted by the All Karachi Customs Agents Association, he reiterated that neither the President, Senior Vice President, nor Vice President of the Chamber consider anyone inferior, and they have to treat and support everyone equally. He vowed not to allow anyone to impose their dominance in the Chamber and rejected any notion of monopoly, affirming their strong instance in the Karachi Chamber elections.
Asif Sakhi, Chairman of the Businessmen’s Alliance, asserted that there is no form of dictatorship in the Customs Association. He emphasized that the Association is a team of individuals and business leaders dedicated to serving the business community. He also mentioned that they will continue to contest the Karachi Chamber elections every year, promising a strong competition either this year or the next to safeguard their rights.
A large gathering of customs agents, including many senior members, attended the event. Mr. Haroon Farooki, former President of KCAA and KCCI, served as the Guest of Honor, offering insights into the history of KCAA, the establishment of its head office, and the amendments to the Customs Agents Licensing Rules of 1971.
On this occasion, senior leader of the Custom Agents community , Saifullah remarked that while the Karachi Chamber often discusses the city’s infrastructure, they should first address the infrastructure issues at Karachi Port.
A large gathering of customs agents, including many senior members, attended the event. Mr. Haroon Farooki, former President of KCAA and KCCI, addressing  as the Guest of Honor, offering insights into the history of KCAA, the establishment of its head office, and the amendments to the Customs Agents Licensing Rules of 1971.
Secretary General of the Customs Agents Association, Mahmoodul Hasan Awan, provided a detailed overview of the Association’s performance and its efforts in resolving the problems faced by the business community.
He outlined a series of productive engagements held throughout the year. Notable meetings were conducted with top officials, including the Member Customs (Operation) & (Policy) FBR, the Federal Minister of Maritime Affairs, the Secretary of Commerce, the Chief Collector of Customs South, the Director of Intelligence and Investigation, senior officials from the ANF, and executives from terminal operators and Off-Dock Terminals. Meetings were also held with the Chairman of KPT and officials of the Pakistan Single Window (PSW), where critical issues and amendments were discussed.
In addition to recognizing these contributions, the incoming elected unopposed President, Mr. Muhammad Amir, and General Secretary, Mr. Mansoor Ali for the term 2024-2025, were formally introduced, and they were welcomed with a bouquet and a warm reception.
 Mr. Arshad Khurshid, the President of KCAA, praised the Managing Committee for their efforts in fostering trade facilitation and delivering outstanding service. He discussed the most significant achievements KCAA’s success in addressing a longstanding issue: now, all shipping companies and lines are operating on Saturdays for the issuance of delivery orders. This breakthrough was achieved through persistent efforts and in line with directives from the Prime Minister. Joint meetings were held with all stakeholders to explore the establishment of a Regulatory Authority for Shipping and Terminals.
