Westerly winds are forecasted to impact the country from January 18 to 23, with some areas of Sindh likely to experience rainfall.

A new cold wave is expected to impact various cities in Sindh, including Karachi, starting January 24, with temperatures in the port city likely to drop to single digits during the last week of the month, according to a weather analyst on Saturday.

The meteorologist stated that cold westerly winds might begin affecting the country from Saturday, potentially bringing rain to several regions and snowfall in mountainous areas.

The westerly winds are expected to persist until January 23, the analyst added.

Under this weather system, cities like Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, and other parts of Sindh are likely to experience moderate rainfall from January 21 to 23, while some areas across the country may remain cloudy.

Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted strong winds in Karachi for Saturday (today), with the weather expected to stay dry and cool over the next 24 hours.

It reported that winds from the northeast were blowing at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour.

On Friday, the PMD had forecast strong winds in northern areas of the country, along with rain and snowfall on mountains, from January 18 to 20.

For the past week, Karachi has been experiencing intermittent spells of strong winds.
