Netanyahu postpones cabinet meeting to approve the Gaza deal.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that his cabinet would not convene as planned to approve the Gaza ceasefire agreement, attributing the delay to a “last-minute crisis” caused by Hamas.
“Hamas has backed out on certain parts of the agreement reached with mediators and Israel, attempting to secure additional concessions at the last minute,” Netanyahu stated. “The Israeli cabinet will only meet once the mediators confirm that Hamas has agreed to all terms of the deal.”
Hamas representatives refute Israel’s accusations of reneging on the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
Two senior Hamas officials have rejected Israel’s accusations that the Palestinian resistance group is reneging on parts of the Gaza truce and captive release agreement, Al Jazeera reports.
“There is no truth to Netanyahu’s claims that the movement has withdrawn from the terms of the ceasefire agreement,” stated Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri.
“Hamas remains committed to the ceasefire agreement as announced by the mediators,” added Hamas political bureau member Izzat al-Risheq in a statement.
