Ishratul Ebad Urges Unity, Good Governance in Karachi; Announces Return to Pakistan Politics
Karachi | June 30, 2025 — Former Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan emphasized the significance of Pakistan’s youthful population, stating that over 65% of the population is under the age of 20 — a demographic he described as the country’s greatest potential for future development. He expressed these views while addressing party workers via video link at a local hotel in Karachi on Saturday.
In his remarks, Dr. Ebad paid special tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for playing a pivotal role in recent military victories and restoring the dignity of the nation. “The strength of the state has always been his top priority,” he noted.
He highlighted the improvement of Pakistan’s global military standing following recent events and praised Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his diplomatic team for strengthening Pakistan’s position on the international front.
Calling for political unity, Dr. Ebad urged all parties to collaborate for national progress. He appealed directly to President Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto to focus on Karachi’s challenges, particularly its pressing municipal issues. “Good governance is urgently needed in Sindh, especially in addressing the day-to-day problems faced by the people,” he added.
Dr. Ebad lauded the organizational capabilities of his party, “Meri Pehchan Pakistan”, noting that they are now in a position to hold large public gatherings, including significant women-centric events. He credited this success to Dr. Uzma Maqbool, a renowned social activist and leader of the party’s women wing.
He announced his intention to return to Pakistan soon and promised to demonstrate his party’s political strength in Karachi. “Prominent political personalities will be joining us. Karachi deserves its due share — water, electricity, gas, and other basic necessities must be made accessible to the people,” he said, adding that the city, which contributes the highest share of national tax revenue, should not be neglected.

Commenting on the state of MQM politics, he stated: “I’ve told my friends in MQM that rather than focusing on personal projections or interests, they should serve the people by playing a practical and solution-oriented role.”
Concluding the session after a round of media questions, Dr. Ishratul Ebad reaffirmed his commitment: “My identity is Pakistan — and I am working for the betterment of people across the entire nation.”
