Post Mortem report confirms missing minor boy of Karachi was subjected to sexual assault before strangulation

Date:

A postmortem examination conducted on seven-year-old Mohammed Sarim, whose body was discovered in the underground water tank of his family’s apartment in North Karachi 11 days after his disappearance, has confirmed that the child was raped before being strangled to death.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Aneel Haider of the Anti-Violence Crime Cell (AVCC), the initial autopsy report indicated that Sarim had been killed five days prior to the recovery of his body, which was then dumped in the underground water tank of the same apartment complex where he lived.

Quoting the autopsy findings, the SSP stated: “Sarim’s neck was broken, indicating he was strangled to death.”

The police have detained a relative of the victim on suspicion and are conducting a DNA test on the individual, the officer added.

Police surgeon Dr. Samia reported that the medical examination confirmed the child was sexually assaulted before being strangled.

“There were various marks of injuries on his body,” she further noted.

Meanwhile, Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho held a meeting to review the progress of investigations into cases involving the kidnapping of children.

A police spokesperson stated that the Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) directed officers to take stringent measures to recover missing children and expedite investigations into such cases.
