Karachi Weather Update

Date:

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted partly cloudy and humid conditions for Karachi over the next 24 hours, with the possibility of light drizzle in some areas.

Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 32°C and 34°C, while the minimum temperature recorded earlier today was 29°C. Humidity levels currently stand at 79%, with sea breezes blowing at 11 kilometers per hour.

A PMD spokesperson has also warned of a new monsoon system likely to impact Sindh around July 5 or 6, which could bring more widespread and heavier rainfall.

While recent showers have brought welcome relief from the intense heat, the ongoing monsoon spell has unfortunately resulted in multiple casualties and injuries in the city.

Meanwhile, rain with wind and thundershowers is forecast for isolated areas in Kashmir, northeast Punjab, the Potohar region, Islamabad, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the next 12 hours, according to Radio Pakistan. Scattered showers are also expected in the morning across several areas, while hot and humid weather will persist in other regions.

Temperatures recorded in major cities this morning were: Islamabad, Peshawar, and Gilgit at 27°C; Lahore 28°C; Karachi 30°C; Quetta 25°C; Murree 17°C; and Muzaffarabad 23°C.
