HEC warns the public about scammers and fraudulent websites stealing personal information.

Date:

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has issued a warning to the public about scammers posing as official HEC representatives and using fake websites to steal personal information.

In a post on X, the HEC shared a short video, stating: “Public Alert: Scammers are impersonating HEC and using fake websites to steal information. HEC never asks for OTPs, passwords, or bank details. Report any suspicious activity to us.”

The video emphasized that HEC does not contact individuals for payment attestation and never requests sensitive information such as OTPs, passwords, or banking details.

The commission urged people to stay vigilant against scam calls and fraudulent websites, and advised not to share personal or financial details with anyone claiming to represent HEC.

HEC also clarified that it operates only one official website where all authentic information is available.

The video concluded by advising citizens to report suspicious calls and websites to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the National Response Centre for Cyber Crime.
