Newly appointed high-performance coach Adnan Zakir has stated that the national coaching management has successfully identified the physical and tactical “grey areas” of the players as reparation for the FIH Hockey World Cup enters a crucial phase. In an exclusive interview with ‘The Credible Post”, the former international forward emphasized that while the current squad possesses a decent baseline, integrating advanced sports science and data-driven methods is essential to meet global fitness benchmarks. Zakir explained that reaching elite international fitness is a gradual process requiring consistency and structured planning to ensure players peak at the right moment during the World Cup.
Praising the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) for introducing modern technologies like the GPS player tracking system, he called it a foundational milestone for the sport’s long-term revival. Zakir urged the nation to balance high hopes with realism, counseling fans to support the team’s developmental transition rather than demanding miraculous immediate results.
