KARACHI: The case surrounding the death of actor and model Humaira Asghar has taken a chilling turn, with Sindh Police officials revealing that her body may have been lying undiscovered for nearly six months.
According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Asad Raza, food and beverage items found in her Defence Phase 6 flat had expiration dates marked 2024, and the last activity on her phone traced back to October 2024. “The flat showed no signs of recent use, and electricity had been disconnected for quite some time,” Raza added.
Humaira Asghar, who had been living alone in her apartment for seven years, was found dead on Tuesday when a bailiff appointed by the court arrived to enforce an eviction order due to unpaid rent. Her decomposed body was discovered during the proceedings.
A day earlier, Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed stated that the cause of death could not be determined due to the advanced stage of decomposition. “Although an initial autopsy has been conducted, it is currently not possible to confirm how she died,” she said. Samples for DNA and chemical analysis have been collected, and the cause of death will be established once lab results are available.
DIG Raza also disclosed that the last message on Asghar’s phone was from an online cab driver. Her last communication with the apartment owner also dates back to 2024. He confirmed that the body has been moved to the morgue, and her family will receive it today. Further investigation is awaiting the complete post-mortem report.
Stylist Danish Maqsood, who knew Asghar personally, shared that he had messaged her on October 20 last year, but it remained unread. He also noted that her WhatsApp “last seen” status had not changed since October 7, adding weight to the possibility that she may have died around that time.

Humaira’s last known public activity traces back to October 2024, and police officials noted that electricity had been disconnected in her apartment for quite some time.
Known for her bold presence and pageant-winning persona, Humaira was a contestant on Tamasha Ghar, where she initially survived 28 days before being evicted in Week 5. She later returned to the competition, but was disqualified on Day 40 for violating show rules.
While speculation continues to swirl around the circumstances of her death, authorities stress that the public must await the results of DNA and chemical analyses before drawing any conclusions. Humaira’s sudden death has shocked fans, colleagues, and the entertainment community at large.
