Despite clear directives from the Supreme Court and the university’s own policies, retired employees of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) are being re-appointed on contract with hefty salaries and additional benefits. According to sources, these officials are not only drawing pensions worth millions of rupees but are also enjoying lucrative perks.
At the top of the list is Dr. Rustam Zaman, retired from Civil Hospital, who is regarded as a close ally of former Vice Chancellor Prof. Muhammad Saeed Qureshi. Although his contract expired in August, he continues to hold the post of Director OPD, allegedly due to his strong connections with the Chief Minister’s House. Similarly, Dr. Nosheen Qadri, also retired from Civil Hospital, has been serving on contract for over a year. Sources reveal that such re-appointments are primarily granted to those considered close to Prof. Qureshi.

Other re-appointed DUHS officials include Dr. Saud Hasan (Pharmacology), Dr. Sikandar Mughal (Physiology), Dr. Tazeen (Pathology), Izhar ul Hasan (Institute of Health Management), Dr. Sohu (Ojha Chest Diseases), Dr. Abdul Samad (Physiology), Dr. Zaheer Amjad (Anatomy), Dr. Farrukh Mustafa (Anatomy), Dr. Naila Shahbaz (Neurology), Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shaikh (Community Medicine), Dr. Zaki (Forensic Medicine), and Dr. Rustam Zaman (AMS and Director OPD).
Insiders at the university disclosed that when syndicate members questioned these re-appointments, Prof. Saeed Qureshi defended his actions by claiming he had received direct instructions from the Chief Minister’s House.
It is important to note that the Supreme Court has categorically prohibited re-appointing retired employees on contract in its rulings. Sources further informed *The Credible Post* that the Acting Vice Chancellor has little authority in these matters, merely playing the role of a puppet, while key decisions continue to be dictated by Prof. Qureshi.
